        4. Discuss: Think about whether Montresor is an unreliable narrator.  What details suggest that he might have imagined "the thousand injuries" and the insult- or even the whole story?
        5. How might Poe's life (pg. 230-231) have informed this story? Could this story have been Poe's way of getting even with his foster father? Consider these facts: Poe's foster father was Scottish, and the Montresor motto is the motto of Scotland.  Also, like Fortunado, John Allan was a businessman and a Mason.  Cite specific examples from Poe's biography and from the story.

(We will peer edit tomorrow).
