FAFSA/ Financial Aid
VERY IMPORTANT– Read through to the end!!!!
*Every student who has a social security number needs to apply for financial aid! FAFSA’s are  available on-line starting January 1st; all students & their parents need a pin number in order to apply  on-line. 
You will need the following to sign up for your pin number:
1) Social Security Number  2) Date of birth  
3) Address  4) E-mail  address  *(See note about e-mail addresses.)   You will also have to select a “challenge question” to answer if you forget your pin #. 
Examples: mother’s maiden name, city or hospital you were born in, name of elementary school that you attended,  location of dream vacation…

**The Counselors will be taking you in to the Computer Lab after vacation (on January 7th & 8th) to get you signed up for your PIN #. Be sure to bring your information with you!!
Don’t be absent!!**
FAFSA Forms: You will need the following in order to fill out the FAFSA starting January 1st:
1) 2009 (or 2008, if 2009 is not ready) Federal Tax Return for yourself (if you work) and your parents.
2) Social Security #   3) Parents’ Social Security # (if they have one)     4) Current Bank Statements
5) 2009 Untaxed Income Records
6) Investment Records
7) Your PIN # and your parent’s PIN #
8) Alien Registration #, if you’re not a U.S. citizen.

Cal Grants
The Cal Grant GPA Information Release Form was turned in during registration. Aside from completing your FAFSA, this is the only other step in applying for a Cal Grant (Free Money)!
*Notices have been sent to all seniors who did not yet turn in these forms. Be sure to turn yours in before break! (If you do not have a Social Security #, please still turn the form in and cross out the line asking for this information.)
 
ACT & SAT Scores
Don’t forget that the ACT/SAT scores that you submitted on your college applications are considered unofficial. The Cal States and UC's expect to receive your official scores directly from ACT/ The College Board. Your scores must be received no later than January 2010! If you have not yet requested for these to be sent be sure to do so before the vacation!
 
GRADES
Seniors, Grades are out! How are you doing?! If you are falling behind, be sure to go to tutoring after school in the Library!! (This is available Monday through Friday!)
 
E-mail addresses
*Be sure that you have an APPROPRIATE e-mail address to put on any financial aid, scholarship or college related materials.
*IMPORTANT: If you applied to a four-year college, make sure to check your e-mail (your regular one & any new account the college gave you) weekly!! They will send you updates & requests for information. If you do not complete these on time you may not get accepted! Don’t take a chance!!
