FAFSA WORKSHOPS IN THE COMPUTER LAB- 2010 *Counselors will be available during the times listed to assist you with filling out your FAFSA. You must bring all of the required information/documentation in order to participate. Parents are welcome to attend any of the workshops listed. **Make sure that you choose the 2010-2011 year when starting your FAFSA! It is for the first year that you will be in college, not this school year! ** *JANUARY* (There is limited funding this year. Try to get your FAFSA done during January to make sure that you get all of the money that you qualify for!) Tuesday, January 12th from 2:46- 4:00pm Thursday, January 14th from 2:46- 4:00pm Tuesday, January 19th from 2:46- 4:00pm Wednesday, January 20th from 2:46- 4:00pm Monday, January 25th from 2:46- 4:00pm Tuesday, January 26th from 2:46- 4:00pm Wednesday, January 27th from 2:46- 4:00pm FEBRUARY Tuesday, February 16th from 2:46- 4:00pm Wednesday, February 17th from 2:46- 4:00pm Thursday, February 18th from 6:00-7:30pm *You must arrive by 6:30pm at the latest because it will be ending at 7:30pm. Monday, February 22nd from 2:46- 4:00pm Tuesday, February 23rd from 6:00-7:30pm *You must arrive by 6:30pm at the latest because it will be ending at 7:30pm. Wednesday, February 24th from 2:46- 4:00pm *For the after school workshops please arrive by 3:00pm because we will be closing at 4:00pm. *FAFSA is the Free Financial Aid Application that allows students to apply for grants, work study and loans that are available to help them pay for college. (Do not pay anyone to help you fill out the FAFSA!) This money can be used at any community college, vocational school or four-year university. It is important for all students who have a Social Security # to apply for the FAFSA. NOTE: A pin # is required for students and parents to be able to complete the entire FAFSA process electronically. The pin # serves as a signature on the electronic form. Information required to sign up for a FAFSA pin number: 1) Social Security Number 2) Date of birth 3) Address 4) E-mail address *You will also have to select a “challenge question” to answer if you forget your pin #. Examples: mother’s maiden name, city or hospital you were born in, name of elementary school that you attended, location of dream vacation… Go to www.pin.ed.gov *If your parents have a Social Security # then they need a pin # as well. The same web site is used; input your parent’s information. Information required to complete the FAFSA: 1) 2009 (or 2008, if 2009 is not ready) Federal Tax Return for yourself (if you work) and your parents or W-2 forms 2) Social Security # 3) Driver’s License # (if you have one) 4) Parents’ Social Security # (if they have one) 5) Current Bank Statements 6) 2009 Untaxed Income Records- Social Security, TANF, welfare, or veterans benefits records 7) Investment Records 8) Your PIN # and your parent’s PIN # 9) Alien Registration #, if you’re not a U.S. citizen. *Note: Do NOT go to fafsa.com; this is a business that charges money for this free application!
